Robert Alan Sabo, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Robert Alan Sabo, M.D., F.A.C.S. takes a practical, patient-first approach to neurosurgical care, focusing on what matters most to each individual. He starts with two simple questions: What do you physically need to do? And what do you physically want to do? From there, he builds a plan designed to restore function and help patients get back to living their lives.

Board-certified by the American Board Neurologic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Sabo treats a range of spine conditions, including neck and back problems caused by degeneration or injury. He is skilled in advanced, minimally invasive procedures such as cutting-edge 3D navigation-guided spinal fusion, as well as specialized treatments like spinal cord stimulator implants for chronic pain.

Dr. Sabo’s path to medicine began early, influenced by his father, a thoracic surgeon. With a lifelong interest in science and how the brain controls movement, neurosurgery became a natural fit. He earned his undergraduate degree from MIT and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, followed by surgical training in Philadelphia and a neurosurgery residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to research and published extensively, including efforts to advance spinal stimulator technology

As a seasoned triathlete and Ironman, Dr. Sabo understands helping patients move better and live better is always the goal.
