“Managing Back Pain and Knowing When it is Time for Surgery” is the Focus of Shore Physicians Group’s Be Well Connected Educational Breakfast, May 15

Back pain is a common problem, with 75 to 85 percent of all Americans expected to experience some form of back pain during their lifetime. To help those in our community struggling with back pain, Shore Physicians Group announced that it will host a community education breakfast on the topic Wednesday, May 15 from 10 am to noon at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point. The event is in continuation of Shore Physicians Group’s popular “Be Well Connected” education series.

Neurosurgeon Francis Kralick, D.O., F.A.C.O.S, will present on the subject of back pain and when someone is a candidate for back surgery. Dr. Kralick, who is a member of the Shore Physicians Group Surgical Division, an affiliate of Penn Medicine Surgery, is an expert in performing complex, minimally invasive brain and spine surgery with endoscopic and microsurgical techniques. Conditions he treats include degenerative disease of the spine, spine and brain tumors, cerebrospinal fluid anomalies, hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations and neurosurgical oncology.

Jennifer S. Pesce, PT, DPT from Shore Medical Center’s Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation Center will present on stretches and simple exercises to strengthen back muscles. Saba Zahid, RD, LDN, Patient Experience Manager, Food and Nutrition Services, will discuss anti-inflammatory foods that can ease back pain.
