Diabetes Management is the Focus of Shore Physicians Group’s March 28 “Be Well Connected” Free Education Breakfast

Diabetes is growing at an epidemic rate, with an estimated 30 million people living with the disease in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control.  To help people in our community better manage their diabetes, Shore Physicians Group (SPG) is hosting a free diabetes education breakfast for the public on March 28 from 10 am to noon at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point. The event is part of Shore Physicians Group’s ongoing “Be Well Connected” education series.

Presentations include:

  • “Type 2 Diabetes and Dietary Management” – SPG Endocrinologist Dr. Vijay Balakrishnan.
  • “Continuous Glucose Monitors & Technology”- SPG Diabetes Educator Denyse Gallagher, APN.
  • “Exercise – What Should I be Doing?” – SPG Endocrinologist Dr. Matthew Corcoran.

The event also features a free continental breakfast, question and answer sessions, and information on additional resources.  To RSVP, call 609-653-3435.

At the event, Dr. Corcoran will also talk about Diabetes Training Camp, a multi-sport camp he founded that helps exercisers and athletes of all levels take control of their diabetes. The education breakfast falls the day before Diabetes Training Camp’s first-ever Type 2 Boot Camp, happening March 29, 30 & 31 at the JCC in Margate, NJ. The camp combines educational lectures, fitness sessions, community building and nutrition learning. Campers will learn to focus on the opportunity for health, longevity and success and build strategies and a plan to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
